I'm generally leftish of center or center left. But certainly a capitalist. And conservative tempermentally. The big conundrum is guys like you. Where are conservatives left when modrn conservatives are beyond radical? OTOH, the Dem establishment is by and by pretty conservative.
When I read 1984, I was young and callow and politically unsophisticated, let's say, Didn't know it was a description of the British Soviet Republic. (And in view of Orwell's politics, I think that's the wrong perception anyway; he was anti-oppression from whatever direction.) The tri-polar global politics weren't exclusive to the USSR; Kissinger got good press for doing the same thing. And a lot of the other stuff is being brought to us in free market America. And by Big Bro W.
