Tort Deform, an Example
I have two excellent reasons for being against GOP tort reform. The second is personal.
First, though, is that a democracy and freedom require a system of law and a healthy system of law has to give people access to a system in which they can seek recourse. It's that or vigilantism.
The wingnuts disagree. They're Hobbesians: you get screwed, you don't seek recourse, you just suffer. This, I point out, is very much contrary to the Bible: "An eye for an eye," etc., etc., is not a direction to seek vengeance but comes from a contexts of laws e.g. a system of law.
So, trying to get back to the point I'm struggling to make, the GOP tort deformists are always hardcore till it happens to them; lookie here. Trenchmouth Lott is suing his insurance company for its parsimonious regarding his Katrina-trashed vacation home.
A man of principles and priorities.
No. Just another GOP piece of crap.
