Tortorous
Let's take the high road.
Not that it'll happen.
Let's ban torture, across the board, as an absolute policy.
To show that America believes in more than the global market for its multinationals.
Let's ban it and save it for when it may be really needed.
The war on terror is two things. The overt BS from the wingnuts, another faith-based initiative divorced from reality as we know it.
And a series of covert operations where, yes, a little roughhousing, to put euphemistically, is one of the tools. Wholesale torture achieves nothing good -- think Abu Gharib. Selectively, it can. And if and when it would and if and when an incident if it actually did accomplish anything becomes known, who is going to complain? No one who matters.
But til then, let's show that America stands for something good and positive.
Meanwhile, if still interested in the subject, a variant opinion to the above is here.
