Too Funny Not to Post
My beloved Alan Abelson in Barron's (granted it was the day before New Year's Eve, maybe:

Please. McCain occasionally has a good rap, as we used to say, but substantively (so to speak) the guy is an absolute lightweight.
Abelson's downside is that as good a Wall Street journo as he is, he's a political lightweight himself, being a party-liner and all. I can't stand non-political journalists that feel compelled to show their political smarts and in so attempting show that they actually don't have the smarts in the first place.
The pool of early Republican [2008 presidential] hopefuls includes, besides John McCain, a couple of lame-duck governors, New York's George Pataki and Massachusetts' Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich and Condi Rice; McCain apart, a pretty shallow pool, in other words.
