Iraq is Now Officially Vietnam All Over Again
Except the deaths are far fewer.
But the Wall Street Journal (sub. reqd.) has broken out the old Vietnam chestnut: admitting our clear and obvious mistake that is apparent to the world is a sign of weakness so we have o stay the distance so as not to appear weak, just really f^@king stupid. Stupid is okay.
And what's also silly is that we've already won: we got contol of the oil fields (but not the pipelines out :)) and have established permanent bases. There's nothing important left to do... from our perspective, although maybe the Iraqis have a problem with the anarchy we brought them after over a decade of sanctions....
