Big Media Farce

Well, not so big -- MSNBC has another one of it's head-up-the-ass programming changes. As we'll recall from the Phil Donahue days, MSNBC never does what you could call the faux Fox thing with any success (ditto, but less so, CNN).

So the channel just bounced a couple of shows, saying passing that only Olbermann and "Hardball"'s doing well -- and even the latter is softening a little. (Story was in the 6/30 Times but I can't find it online.)

So it's the message from the Donahue days that management -- ever-changing, ever-deaf -- fails to get: there's a market for centrist/leftish programming. It's called counter-programming. And it works. Unlike cloning and copying which guarantees a couple of losers. Like MSNBC.

But it's not that simple, I'm sure. The MS part of MSNBC -- Gates & Cp. -- want a Fox clone, I'm sure. Just my hunch....
